Far Too Many Businesses Are Ignoring Security Threats

Don't be one of them!

It is always better to be safe than sorry. This is not only something which is highly relevant to our personal lives, but also to how we handle businesses and the security threats that they face. Business today is at more risk than ever before of being hacked and the wrong people getting access to sensitive information.

Data protection and cyber security are hot topics for a reason now. Massive data breaches have taken place over the years and have led to compromise of customer information and ultimately in companies bearing losses which they have never been able to recover from. Even well established businesses have been forced to change their ways after a breach of privacy, forcing governments and agencies to get involved at some point or another.

It is never a good idea to be the company which thinks security threats will never interfere in their business. A company which believes their firewalls are enough to keep anyone out are doing nothing but day dreaming and there are enough recent examples to prove that.

Security threats are just that – a threat to your livelihood and should always be taken seriously. When it is still a threat, you have time to assess the threat and fight it off. When it becomes too late, that is when the news leaks and customers legally must be informed that their information may have been compromised. There isn’t any business out there who would want to be in that place. Ever.

Why then do businesses still take security threats so lightly to the point of completely ignoring them? It is a dilemma around the world and something which continues to affect corporations negatively to the point of no return. Investing in cyber security has a measurable return and is not just a business expense as it was a few years ago. Companies not investing in it today will certainly face a loss at some point or another.

An excuse which many businesses give for not implementing the latest security practices is mainly due to not having enough in-house resources or the budget to do so. It is completely understandable, but in the era of having experienced managed service providers available to do the job for them, the excuse remains exactly that. With modern technology now being more affordable and easier to deploy, companies no longer need to have everything physically located in the central office.

Cloud computing and the internet of things has made taking businesses online and securing them easier and cheaper. Choose to go with a managed service provider that is reliable and trustworthy and it will give your business the peace of mind that it seeks.
