Are We Looking at an AI Industrial Revolution?

Artificial intelligence is taking over nearly every industry imaginable. It has started a new era, rapidly evolving to integrate itself into our daily lives. Going back just a few years, many of us could not have imagined just how much of our lives would be controlled, directed and even guided by technology as it is today. This only seems to be the start of it.

The use of the latest technology and seamless integration of it into society isn’t just a thing witnessed in the most advanced nations in the world. There is hardly a country out there which has not allowed itself to be taken over by technology and isn’t using artificial intelligence to improve life for its citizens in some way or another.

In just a few years, experts predict that the artificial intelligence takeover, in a good way, will be complete and the world will be a completely different place. Here are some of the ways industries are being dominated by AI and how you can expect them to continue changing over the years.

One of the most significant impacts which artificial intelligence will have on our everyday lives is on the world of retail. As AI gets smarter with each passing day, it will not be surprising to have 100% robot operated and AI powered staff when you go into a retail shop, restaurant or even warehouse to buy or replace something.

AI is already powerful enough to suggest similar products and even recommend new ones based on your shopping preferences and habits. Take amazon as an example. Their new grocery stores are nearly completely artificial intelligence operated with barely any human staff on location. This could turn out to be a positive or negative for us humans since it means that most jobs, especially in the United States, could be entirely overhauled by robot workers.

Agriculture is already facing AI’s dominance for both the positive and negative. We are planting, harvesting and distributing food faster, of better quality and to more locations around the world. This helps in fighting mass global hunger, but also means there is less of a requirement for humans to work in that industry.

Transportation and customer services is already beginning to see robot powered cars and voices take over to assist people, which will only continue to grow. With the help of self-driving cars, the need for people to actually drive themselves will die down and wipe out eventually. Public and private transport is expected to become completely reliant on artificial intelligence in the coming years, making it harder for people working in that industry to find jobs for a comfortable lifestyle.

With better and more powerful technology, the need for humans to diversify their skillset is more important now than ever before in human history. If humans do not continue to progress as a species, it may be too late and the AI industrial revolution just might take us over in all regards.
