Tweet your way to success

Twitter has become one of the most popular social media platforms for businesses all around the globe to interact directly with existing customers and those they are targeting. There is a large audience using Twitter at any given moment and that is only expected to continue growing in the coming years.

The great thing about Twitter is that the core aspect of it is messaging, communicating and sharing updates in Realtime. There isn’t as much complexity to Twitter as there is to Facebook, Instagram or any other social media platform. Twitter is great for shooting out short messages, sharing updates and interacting with customers.

Like others, Twitter is not as simple as it once was. Before, it would be easy to gain a massive following by retweeting great content and having a catchy Twitter handle. It does not work like that anymore. With Twitter cracking down on fake accounts and fake followers, along with limiting the outreach of every Tweet, it has become more important to create content which matters and what people would like to see.

Use of the proper and trending hashtags is a great way to get tweets out there, but if it is not engaging, people will just skip it altogether.

Better graphics, videos and well thought out messages are a sure way to capture the attention of the Twitter crowd. Businesses are coming up with more and more creative methods of doing so every single day and winning at the engagement game. Twitter’s new algorithm shows posts in reverse chronological order. The more engagement a post has, the higher its chances are of popping up as soon as someone opens their feed.

Twitter is similar to other social media platforms because of one thing. That is the love for videos. Approximately 82% of Twitter users love watching video on their Twitter app, which is highly used by Android and iOS users alike. Optimized content for mobile will not only look better on all devices, but will also end up doing better on the engagement level.

Since Twitter posts don’t have the same outreach as they once did, it is a good idea to reschedule older posts such as blog content, to be reposted in the near future. Only posting once and never again is just wasting valuable content because not everyone got a look at it the first time. This gives some breathing space for content creators and the audience to get a refresher every once in a while.

The game on every social media platform is to not overdo it. Keep things simple, natural flowing. This will minimize the assumption that a business is just in the game to promote their services and make a sale. Instead, establish trust and Twitter will be an easy platform to dominate.
