Social Media trends not to ignore in 2019

Social media is in a tough spot right now. The United States audience is at times seemingly done with social media altogether, while on the other end, out daily lives do not feel the same without it. What we can infer from that is social media will continue to be an integral part of our lives, no matter how much we try to avoid it in 2019. You may be surprised to know that social media growth is actually expected to rise this new year and the number of total users in the US alone could be well over 200 million.
While it may be interesting to see how social media continues to grow, what is really on the mind of most of you is what is going to be trending in 2019. This year is one for the masses and businesses online need to focus their attention to making that human connection now more than anything. Everything is digital, untouchable and nearly unrelatable. The more relevant the content you create is, the more engagement it may get from the audience.
Interactive Video on Social Platforms
What we’re imagining to be the next big thing on social media is interactive video and video content in general over anything else. Pictures, blog posts, memes and just text are still going to be an important part of any social media strategy, but the engagement of videos is still going to dominate overall.
The newer generations are nearly completely switched over to social media and the internet for their watching needs. Regular old cable television has not been able to catchup with the trends and demands of today’s audience. This is why Netflix and other streaming services have been so popular.
For social media, interactive videos, even in virtual or augmented reality, are going to be the next big hit. Those businesses which take a shot at it before everyone else will see the highest rates of engagement until it fizzles out.
Series Type Content
Instead of just randomly posting whatever may seem cool and trendy, businesses should not make more content calendars with segments to push content out like a series. There should the right time for publishing and all of it should be done according to a theme, standard and in a way when the iron is at its hottest point.
Great content can fail if it isn’t put out there on time. Also, there’s no point in publishing when most of your audience is asleep. Doing more data analysis and developing strategies accordingly will be big in social media this year as businesses crunch the numbers, lower social media spending and still want the most of it.
Captivating Sound
Podcasts are great and so are audio books. But there is still so much room for innovation in the audio department as more people buy and integrate smart speakers into their lives. Better content produced exclusively for these devices is sure to capture the attention of listeners, but if you choose on just using the audio from old videos to “just flow with it”, than don’t have any high expectations.
Content needs to be curated for the platform it is going to be published on. With more of an effort, that content can end up going a long way.
